The Challenge
Our client, a prominent beverage manufacturer, recognized the importance of instilling the core value of 'Fairness' within their organizational culture. They aimed to educate their employees about the subjective and contextual nature of fairness and how it aligns with the company's day-to-day operations. The primary challenges included:
- Creating an engaging and memorable learning experience that would resonate with employees.
- Ensuring employees understood that fairness could differ from one context to another, fostering a deeper appreciation of the value.
- Demonstrating how the company's commitment to fairness translated into its everyday practices.
The Solution
In response to these challenges, we developed an innovative learning experience that would address these objectives effectively:
- As the learning experience designer, I collaborated closely with the client to conceptualize and design an immersive and interactive learning program.
- We created a simulated story-based learning experience. This involved crafting a narrative that placed employees in various scenarios where they had to make decisions related to fairness.
- The simulated story exposed employees to situations where fairness was subjective and context-dependent. This allowed them to explore different perspectives on fairness.
- We integrated elements into the story that demonstrated how the company valued fairness in its daily operations, showing a direct link between this core value and the workplace.
- I ensured that the learning experience was free of glitches and that the narrative remained engaging and informative throughout.
- I oversaw the entire project, coordinating the efforts of the design and development teams, setting timelines, and ensuring project goals were met.
My Role
As a learning experience designer, project manager, and quality assurer, my responsibilities encompassed various critical aspects:
- Designer: I was instrumental in crafting the creative and educational aspects of the learning experience, ensuring it achieved the desired learning objectives.
- Project Manager: My role involved strategic planning, task allocation, and ensuring the project was executed according to schedule and within budget.
- Quality Assurer: I maintained a focus on the quality and effectiveness of the learning experience, conducting rigorous testing and making necessary improvements.
The Results
The implementation of our innovative learning experience yielded several positive outcomes:
- Hundreds of employees participated in the learning experience, engaging with the content, and gaining a deeper understanding of the value of fairness within the company culture.
- The feedback received from employees indicated that the learning experience was successful in changing their perception of fairness, making them more sensitive to its subjectivity and contextual nature.
- Employees expressed a greater appreciation for how fairness was integrated into the company's daily operations, enhancing their commitment to upholding this core value.
- The learning experience received overwhelmingly positive feedback from employees, who acknowledged its impact on their perspectives and behaviors.
